In the not distant past, Minnesota police forces and fire departments were nationally and internationally recognized among their peers and among the public as highly professional and effective organizations.
In the last few years though, Minnesota cities have been running staffing levels below accepted recommendations.
Street cops who feel they do not have sufficient backup and firemen who do not have manpower behind them in dangerous fires are not going to be able to adequately help the citizens of Minnesota.
We need to release the negative pressures on the individual police and firemen by bringing both to full staffing levels as quickly as possible. By working with the local governments of Minnesota cities, Merrill believes that we can once again have the backs of our police and firemen so that they can watch out for us.
